What Is No Suction Technology? Why HIZERO Cleans Differently

Key Takeaways

  • No Suction Technology means HIZERO picks up mess with a rotating Polymer Roller instead of airflow. There’s no vacuum fan pulling air through the machine.
  • It still picks up solids, liquids, hair and dust in one pass. The roller lifts mess on contact, then the machine sorts it into a solid waste tray, a dirty water tank and a hair collection roller.
  • With no airflow, there’s no exhaust to blow fine dust back into the room, and both the F300 and F600 run under 60dB.
  • The trade-off: HIZERO is built for sealed hard floors only. It doesn’t clean carpet or rugs.

Does a floor cleaner need suction to pick things up? No. HIZERO’s No Suction Technology lifts dirt, spills, hair and dust by direct contact. A high-density Polymer Roller rotates against the floor and picks up the mess, then gets squeezed out and flushed with clean water, so the dirt ends up inside the machine rather than back on your floor. There’s no vacuum fan and no airflow involved.

If you’ve owned a vacuum mop before, that probably sounds like it shouldn’t work. This guide explains exactly how it does, part by part, and where the approach has limits.

What Is No Suction Technology?

No Suction Technology (NST) is HIZERO’s name for cleaning hard floors without a vacuum motor. Instead of using a fan to create airflow and pull debris into the machine, HIZERO uses a rotating roller that picks mess up on contact, much like a damp sponge lifts crumbs off a benchtop.

It sits inside HIZERO’s broader UltimateClean™ technology, the full system that lets the machine sweep and mop at the same time.

Three practical things follow from taking suction out of the design:

  • No exhaust air. A vacuum has to push air out somewhere. With no airflow, there’s nothing to blow fine dust back into the room.
  • Less noise. The fan is the loudest part of a vacuum. HIZERO’s F300 and F600 both run under 60dB in all modes.
  • One pass, not two. The roller picks up wet and dry mess together, so there’s no need to sweep or vacuum before you mop.

How Does a Floor Cleaner Pick Up Dirt Without Suction?

Every pass runs through the same five steps. Here’s what happens inside the cleaning head, in order.

  1. The Polymer Roller picks up the mess. The roller turns at 100rpm against the floor, lifting liquids, solids and fine dust on contact. It’s made from high-density PVA polymer rather than fabric or microfibre, which keeps it gentle on floors and helps protect them from scratches.
  2. The brush roller handles hair and solids. A second roller, the hair collection roller, works alongside the Polymer Roller to pull hair off the floor and brush solid debris into the solid waste tray.
  3. A grate squeezes out the dirty water. As the Polymer Roller turns, a water sink grate presses liquid out of it and sends it to the dirty water tank, kept apart from the solids.
  4. Clean water flushes the roller. Realtime Self-Cleaning flushes the Polymer Roller with fresh water every second it’s running, so each section of floor is cleaned by a clean roller, not one carrying dirt from the last room.
  5. The floor is left dry. AirDry™ technology leaves floors dry in seconds, so you’re not waiting on evaporation or walking footprints through a wet floor.

Here’s each part and what it does for you at a glance:

Component What it does What it means for you
Polymer Roller Lifts liquids, solids and dust on contact Sweeps and mops in one pass
Hair collection roller Collects hair and pushes solids to the tray Hair stays out of the dirty water
Water sink grate Squeezes dirty water off the roller Dirty water goes straight to its own tank
Twin water tanks Keep clean and dirty water separate Your floor is only cleaned with clean water
Solid waste tray Holds crumbs, grit and debris Solids go in the bin, water goes down the sink

You can see each of these parts labelled on HIZERO’s No Suction Technology features page.

What Is Triple Auto Separation?

The Triple Auto Separation System sorts everything the roller picks up into three places as you clean: solids into the solid waste tray, liquids into the dirty water tank, and hair onto the hair collection roller.

With a traditional mop and bucket, everything you pick up goes into the same water, and that water goes back on the floor with every dunk. Triple Auto Separation means nothing you’ve already picked up gets reapplied. Cleanup afterwards is simple too: tip the solids in the bin, pour the dirty water down the sink, and clear the hair roller with the brush comb supplied in the box.

How Is No Suction Different From a Vacuum Mop?

Most cordless wet-dry floor cleaners, including popular ranges from Tineco and Bissell, are suction-based. A motor drives a fan that creates airflow, and that airflow draws water and debris up through a spinning brush roll into a dirty water tank. In effect, it’s a vacuum adapted to handle liquid. HIZERO replaces that airflow with direct contact.

Suction-based wet-dry vacuum HIZERO No Suction Technology
How mess is lifted Airflow from a fan pulls it up Polymer Roller picks it up on contact
Exhaust air Yes, air leaves the machine None, as there’s no airflow
Main noise source The suction fan No fan; under 60dB in all modes
Waste handling Liquid and debris usually combined in one dirty water tank Solids, liquids and hair separated automatically
Roller material Typically a fabric or microfibre brush roll High-density PVA polymer

Does No Suction Mean a Less Thorough Clean?

It’s the most common doubt, and a fair one if suction is all you’ve used. Suction is one way to move dirt. Contact is another. On a sealed hard floor, the mess you want gone sits on the surface: dust, crumbs, grit, hair and dried spills. A damp roller pressed against that surface lifts it directly, which is why HIZERO can sweep and mop in one pass without vacuuming first.

Where suction does have a genuine edge is depth. On carpet and rugs, dirt sits down in the fibres, and airflow is what pulls it out. That’s why HIZERO doesn’t clean carpet or rugs, and why a home with a lot of soft flooring will still need a vacuum alongside it.

Which HIZERO Models Use No Suction Technology?

Both current HIZERO hard floor cleaners, the F300 All-In-One Hard Floor Cleaner and the F600 Cordless Hard Floor Cleaner, use the same No Suction Technology, Polymer Roller, Realtime Self-Cleaning, Triple Auto Separation and AirDry. What changes is weight and tank size.

Model Weight Clean / dirty tank Runtime Noise Charge time
F300 3.5kg 450ml / 400ml 60+ minutes Under 60dB 3 to 4 hours
F600 4.5kg 600ml / 600ml 60+ minutes Under 60dB 3 to 4 hours

The F300 suits apartments and smaller homes, while the F600 covers larger floor areas between refills. Our F300 vs F600 guide covers which one fits your home, or you can try both at a HIZERO showroom before you buy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does HIZERO have a motor if it doesn’t use suction?

Yes. HIZERO uses a brushless motor to turn the cleaning roller. What it doesn’t have is a suction fan, so no air is pulled through the machine.

Can a no suction floor cleaner pick up pet hair?

Yes. HIZERO has a dedicated hair collection roller that works with the Polymer Roller to pull human and pet hair off the floor and keep it out of the dirty water. You clear it with the brush comb supplied in the box.

Is No Suction Technology safe on timber floors?

HIZERO is suitable for sealed, water-resistant hard floors, including timber, hybrid, tile and vinyl. It isn’t a steam mop, and AirDry leaves floors dry in seconds. For timber-specific care, see our engineered timber floor guide.

Does HIZERO work on carpet or rugs?

No. Without suction there’s nothing to pull dirt out from deep in carpet fibres, so HIZERO is built for sealed hard floors only.

Why is HIZERO quieter than a vacuum mop?

In a vacuum, most of the noise comes from the suction fan. HIZERO doesn’t have one, so the F300 and F600 both run under 60dB in all modes, around the level of a normal conversation.

Now you know how No Suction Technology works, the next question is usually whether it’s worth the money. Our “Is HIZERO Worth It?” page covers what Australian buyers say after living with one, or you can compare the F300 and F600 side by side in the HIZERO hard floor cleaner range.
